The Craft
Artwork is the expression of the soul. I have been making art off and on since I first learned to draw sketch’s of cartoon characters when I was probably around 11 years old. Everything to me is a work of art, from our living decor, the color of our walls, to our altars. I have even explored photography for many years as a hobby, making pieces that were displayed in local art shows.
As a devotee of the spirits of Vodou,
I can express my love and devotion to each spirit I work with through art to represent the spirits. I make pieces in honor to the spirits for many private clients as well. Examples include dolls, libation bottles, offering boxes, altar shrines, and jewelry. I am also somewhat of a collector of local art from various magicians. I have some beautiful wall decor that graces my entry way when entering my home! Puts a smile on my face when I walk through my front door! One thing that must not be forgotten is that while you set up your altar for a ritual, our unique character and approach to our work shines through our presentation of the altar. It might be a simple altar like a glass of water, a candle, and a dish of a favorite food for a particular spirit or saint. However, some altars are magnificent in size and color. I have seen altars three tiered
high adorned with red roses, candles, perfumes, glorious statues, lace, champagne, and shiny trinkets! It was truly a beautiful work of art! This showed the devotees deep sense of love, care, and appreciation of the spirit she was serving! Art is appealing, you can never go wrong when it comes to a making a master piece! When guided by love and light, turning emotions into beautiful art, how could you go wrong!?! What’s appealing to one eye is not to another, but who’s to say your soul and emotions are not fit to b
e framed? Art is a precious time capsule of the soul.
If you have a special request for something to be made special for you for your altar send me an email to discuss it.
